When she resurfaces, Tala is gone, but Moana’s determination is stronger than ever. The Kakamora crave the heart of Te Fiti’s power, but Moana stands her ground and fights back. Though Maui commends her on surviving, he still refuses to help return the heart. Moana persuades him to do otherwise when she claims such an act will help Maui regain a positive reputation amongst mortals. Maui agrees to help, but not without his fishhook, which is said to be in the clutches of Tamatoa, a giant crab living in the Realm of Monsters.

The film is set in ancient Polynesia and tells the story of Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a coastal village, who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with the goddess Te Fiti. When a blight strikes her island, Moana sets sail in search of Maui, a legendary demigod, in hopes of returning the relic to Te Fiti and saving her people. Moana embraced and apologized to her grandmother who in return apologized for putting too much expectations on her shoulders. When Moana became hesitant in returning home, Tala began singing a song in which she explained the positive traits she saw in Moana while giving her words of wisdom. This caused Moana to accept the kind of individual she is by embracing both her love for the sea and her people. It also gave Moana the confidence she needed to finish her quest in stopping Te Kā’s curse. Once she followed her grandmother’s advice, Moana discovered she and her people were descended from voyagers who sailed beyond the seas to find new islands. This discovery excited Moana, prompting her to ask her grandmother why they stopped sailing the ocean.

A brave teenager sets sail to save her island and find her true calling

The franchise consists of three feature films, a short film, several video games, and two theme park attractions. Moanab is a 2016 American animated musical adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements from a screenplay by Jared Bush and stars Dwayne Johnson and Auliʻi Cravalho in her film debut.

• Her friends repair the damaged raft using materials salvaged from Tautai Vasa’s raft that they found on the island, and they soon ride to face Nalo.

Maui and the ancestors (including her grandmother) revive Moana and turn her into a demigoddess herself. Unknown to her, Nalo has captured Matangi and is planning his revenge against Moana, with Tamatoa offering to aid him on it. Inspired by Polynesian mythology, Moana is depicted as the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village, who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with the goddess Te Fiti. When a blight strikes her island, Moana sets sail in search of Maui (Dwayne Johnson), a legendary demigod, in the hope of returning the relic to Te Fiti and saving her people. She then forms a crew and embarks on a voyage to recover the lost island of Motufetu and restore the channels that connected the people of the sea. Growing up, Moana has a complicated relationship with her father whose laws forbidding sea travel conflicts Moana’s love for the sea.

Sixteen years later, blight strikes her island and to attempt to prevent it, Moana suggests going beyond the reef which her father forbids her to. She tries with Pua the Pig but is overpowered by the waves and is shipwrecked back to shore. Tala shows Moana a secret cavern full of ships, revealing her ancestors were voyagers but stopped after Te Fiti’s heart was stolen due to the ocean no longer being safe. She further explains Te Kā is causing the blight and she must seek Maui and the heart to stop it.

• At the same time, Maui strengthens Moana’s mentorship in orientation, eventually turning her into a master navigator in the same way as her ancestors, though Maui confirms that she may have surpassed them.

• Moana then saw Tala reveal that Te Kā’s curse has now reached Motunui and was shocked to hear Tala also reveal she had been chosen by the Ocean to save all of Polynesia from Te Kā’s curse as she was given the Heart of Te Fiti.
• As a result, a lava demon known as Te Kā was born, and the world was plunged into slow-burning darkness.
• Later, when Ralph is falling from a tower and needs saving by the princesses, Moana causes water from a fountain to spiral upwards so that Elsa can freeze it into a slide to slow Ralph’s fall, saying “You’re Welcome” after saving him.

It fell to number six in its fifth weekend, due to competition from four new releases—Sing, Passengers, Why Him? After restoring the Heart of Te Fiti and saving Polynesia, including Motunui, from Te Ka’s curse, Moana happily reunited with Pua upon returning to Motunui. Once the ban on sea travel had been lifted, Moana was accompanied by Pua as she started and led a new generation of wayfinders. After Moana had an argument with her father over sailing beyond the reef to find more fish, she was comforted by Pua who tried to convince her sail into the ocean to look for more fish. Moana was hesitant and wanted to commit to her people and duties, but ultimately decided to try sailing to look for fish with Pua accompanying her. However, due to Moana sailing for the first time, their attempt to look for fish failed when they got hit by a wave, causing Pua to fall overboard.
Tala encourages Moana to consider why she feels so hesitant to return home. Moana realizes that the love she holds for her people and the sea is what brought her this far. It is what ultimately defines who she is, and explains why she’s the one capable of saving the world.

Maui tells Moana that he didn’t want her to come along with him to save Motufetu, because she might die. As they approach his storm, Nalo sends his giant eels to wreak havoc on Moana, with one managing to swallow Moni, and another damaging the sail of the raft. Before they are forced to retreat by the sunrise, Maui manages to save Moni. Finding a deserted island to beach the raft on and regroup, it is there that Moana finds the remains of Tautai Vasa’s raft, indicating that he and those with him were killed by Nalo before they could reach Motufetu. Her morale restored, and with Loto having repaired their raft with materials from Tautai Vasa’s, they head for Motufetu, with the plan being for Maui to raise the island, then Moana will touch it, breaking the curse. She sadly confesses her incompetence and demands that the ocean choose someone else to restore the heart.
She escapes and confronts Maui who throws her off the boat multiple times but due to the ocean he reluctantly lets her onto the camakau. They are then attacked by Kakamora—coconut pirates—who, like other creatures, seek the heart. Moana and Maui escape them and Moana convinces Maui to help her by saying Maui is no longer a hero and should redeem himself by returning the heart. First, Moana and Maui must retrieve Maui’s fishhook in Lalotai, the Realm of Monsters, from Tamatoa, a giant coconut crab.
Moana, in a moment of desperation, dives into the ocean to touch Motufetu underwater, but as she succeeds, Nalo’s lightning kills her. Maui jumps in after her body, and with a magical chant, summons the spirits of Tautai Vasa and Moana’s ancestors, including her grandmother Tala, who help revive her as a demigoddess, with Moana gaining a wayfinder’s tattoo. Maui, also regaining his powers as a demigod, finally raises Motufetu and helps Moana reconnect the people with the ocean. Setting sail on a camakau from the cavern, Moana is caught in a typhoon and shipwrecked on an island where she finds Maui, who boasts about his achievements. She demands that Maui return the heart, but he refuses and traps her in a cave.

Moana heard Tala explain because Maui stole the Heart of Te Fiti, monsters roamed the seas and Te Kā’s curse destroyed islands and made sea voyage dangerous. Moana then saw Tala reveal that Te Kā’s curse has now reached Motunui and was shocked to hear Tala also reveal she had been chosen by the Ocean to save all of Polynesia from Te Kā’s curse as she was given the Heart of Te Fiti. They confront Te Kā, who Moana manages to outsmart in order to make it past Te Fiti’s barrier islands.
Moana suggests going beyond the island’s reef with her pet pig, Pua, to find more fish and discover what is happening, but Tui forbids it. After Moana was comforted and motivated by her grandmother’s spirit to continue her journey, Moana was still accompanied by Moana Heihei as she resumed her quest. Upon returning to Te Fiti’s island, Moana kept Heihei safe inside her boat’s cargo hold as she confronted Te Ka. When Te Ka threw a fireball in attempt to kill Moana as she entered a cave, it caused the Heart of Te Fiti to fall out of her necklace, only for Heihei to catch it before it could fall into the sea. Moana worried Heihei would eat the Heart again, but was surprised and proud that the chicken gave it back to her.
